Come to Rijeka in July!
15 – 18 July 2020
If you are travelling to Croatia for the Croatian Masters Championships, don't forget to complete and submit an Announcement of Entry Form, which will be needed when you enter the country. The form is available at [https://entercroatia.mup.hr/](https://entercroatia.mup.hr/?fbclid=IwAR1fL_PA2xrSK9La_Q2XUXo9-0w6t0l7NE9-eVKDTHUeRVXDXoKbVq1Fj0g) and is easy to complete. You will need passport details (one form per party, as you can add other travellers) and the name & address of where you're staying.
After much discussion with our Croatian hosts, it has been decided to try and hold this year’s Croatian Masters Diving Championships at the beautiful open air pool in Rijeka.
The event runs from 15-18 July at the beautiful outdoor facility in Kantrida, Rijeka. Those of you who have attended either of the previous events already know what a great meet this is for masters divers, with excellent facilities, the beach next door and a fantastic climate.
Training will also be available on 13 – 14 July, for those divers who have been starved of practice, with the Technical Meeting on 14 July.
As you may be aware, Croatia has, largely, escaped significant issues with the COVID-19 situation and the country is now taking steps to attract visitors back. This month over 50 hotels and campsites opened in the Kvarner Bay area, where the pool is located and many more will be opening at the beginning of June.
It is every diver’s individual decision whether to come to Croatia in July, but the local people are doing everything they can to ensure that the event will be as safe as possible.
Entries will close on 21 June, but a decision will be made around 15 June regarding the viability of the event, bearing in mind entries already received.
Entry forms and conditions will be made available on the GBDF and European Master Dives websites. Check your travel & accommodation arrangements and get your entries in as quickly as possible.
In Memory of Mario Egaña Gárate
We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Mario and on behalf of the Great British Diving Federation we would like to share our sympathies and condolences.
Mario was an active part of the International Masters Diving circuit and formerly a Head Coach of team Arica, and the Chilean National Team during the '70s and '80s. Here are some photo's sent by his family for us to share.
